When it comes to the number of flavors, you just can’t beat ice cream. It’s milky texture and mild taste allow it to be combined with almost any other flavor known to humankind. Perhaps that is the reason why every summer we get another batch of flavors from the manufacturers to spice up the hot days.
There are people who would argue that the flavor is secondary, as long as it is ice cream. We cannot subscribe to that view. Many of these flavors are great. Some are ok. Few are atrocious and should have never been created in the first place. To paraphrase the immortal words of Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) from Jurassic Park:” You were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
A bacon flavor ice cream is an abomination and whoever created it should seriously consider their life choices. The same goes for eggnog, licorice and – and I still can’t believe this exists – garlic ice cream. Why would you create an ice cream that tastes like garlic? Are you afraid of vampires? Do you need professional help? Don’t answer that, it’s rhetorical. We know you do.
Our list of the weirdest ice cream flavors for this summer includes some of these, less obvious choices for ice cream flavors. We’d recommend you read, so you are prepared when someone offers you one of these flavors in public and don’t make a scene.
1. Blue Cheese-Pear Ice Cream
Yes, that Blue Cheese flavor is added to a pear ice cream.
2. Charcoal Ube Ice Cream
But not just any charcoal, it’s activated charcoal. And on top of purple yam (ube), to boot. Yummy.
3. Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Ice Cream
Spicy Hot Cheetos and sweet ice cream. You really hate your bowels.
4. Garam Masala Ice Cream
This one actually may taste good. At least it looks promising.

Of course. Garlic Ice Cream. Every year some manufacturer makes a new brand of garlic ice cream, thinking they are so funny and innovative and every autumn they get truckloads of this unsold abomination back. Yet, they never learn…
6. Gold Leaf Ice Cream
This is a Japanese thing, the city of Kanazawa to be precise. They make edible gold leaves and naturally, it ended up on ice cream as well.
7. Jalapeño Popper Ice Cream
Ice cream mixed with jalapeño compote, one of the hottest peppers in the world. What could possibly go wrong?
8. Lobster Ice Cream
No, just lobster flavored wouldn’t cut it here. Instead, the ice cream is dotted with chunks of a real lobster. If anything can put me off ice cream for life, this is it.
9. Rice Cracker-Soy Sauce Ice Cream
This one doesn’t sound as terrible as few of the others on the list, just bland.
10. Wasabi Ice Cream
Another Japanese recipe, soft ice cream with wasabi flavor. Wasabi is an acquired taste, so this may not be for everyone.
